The Baroque Collective: Dido and Aeneas

The Baroque Collective is an informal grouping of leading professional musicians and singers who specialise in the Baroque and Early Music repertoire. The instrumental ensemble is led by Julia Bishop , violinis  with Red Priest, and the soloists are Lucinda Houghton (Dido), John Hancorn (Aeneas), Daisy Brown (Belinda), Hilary Andrews (Sorceress), Katie Tearle and Charlotte Tayler (the Two Witches). The Chorus is drawn from the East Sussex Bach Choir and appropriately includes a group of students from Brighton and Hove High School: the work was originally written for performance at a girls’ school in Chelsea in 1689. Dido and Aeneas is directed by John Hancorn.The Baroque Collective will bring drama, humour and exquisite musicianship to this performance to close the CMP Festival with Dido’s Lament ringing in the ears of the audience!
